Briarcrest Selects Next High School Principal

Briarcrest Selects Next High School Principal

Briarcrest Christian School is proud to welcome Tyler Salyer to our community as our new high school principal beginning July 1, 2024. Tyler has distinguished himself as an exceptional educator and student advocate in the Mid-South serving in multiple roles over his 17-year career.

Tyler has served as principal at West Collierville Middle School since 2021. Prior to that, he served as principal of Collierville Elementary School and held leadership and administrative roles for various school districts in the region. At the state level, he supported the Tennessee Department of Education during two separate stints (2016-19 and 2022-Present) on its TDOE Principal Advisory Council, where he advised and collaborated on several critical initiatives that have positively impacted students across the Volunteer State.

“We conducted an exhaustive search and were blessed to have many qualified candidates demonstrate interest in this role,” said Caron Swatley, Briarcrest Christian School President. “It became clear early in this process that Tyler’s unique ability to relate to students, his prolific accomplishments as an educator and administrator, and his love for the Lord made him the perfect fit to lead our high school into the future.”

Tyler has also served in professional development and talent management roles for large school districts and has led presentations on behalf of the State of Tennessee and Apple.

“It is an honor for me to join the Briarcrest Family and work with students and their parents to foster academic and spiritual development and help them become equipped for success after high school,” Salyer said. “I believe the best parent-teacher relationships are built on clear and consistent communication, transparent expectations, mutual trust and accountability.”

Tyler resides in Collierville with his wife Rachel and daughters Hadley (9) and Georgia (9). They attend Grace Valley Church.
